Faith Factor: See ‘Mr. Banks’ at Inspirational Cinema

Staff report

This month’s inspirational cinema feature is “Saving Mr. Banks,” showing from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at the Center for Spiritual Living Tahoe-Truckee, 700 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, above the marina.

Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson bring to life the untold true story about the origins of one of the most treasured Disney classics of all time.

Determined to fulfill a promise, Walt Disney (Hanks) tries for 20 years to obtain the rights to author P.L. Travers’ beloved book. Walt pulls out all the stops, but the uncompromising Travers won’t budge.

Only when he reaches into his own complicated childhood does Walt discover the truth about the ghosts that haunt Travers, and together, they set Mary Poppins free.

A short discussion follows the movie. Gratitude donations accepted. For more information, call 530-581-5117.
