Highlander JROTC caps year with awards night

The Highlander Battalion finished the month by hosting their annual Awards Night on May 28.

Cadets, as well as supporters of the Highlander JROTC program, were recognized at Awards Night for their outstanding efforts.

With the conclusion of the school year, JROTC also hosted the annual Change of Command ceremony, where which former Executive Officer Alex Resney was named next year’s Battalion Commander.

In other news, Incline High School hosted the annual JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge for the first time ever on Monday, June 2.

Cadets from schools such as Galena and North Valleys attended the event and participated in activities such as rappelling, orienteering and a ropes course.

The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District lent its mobile rappel tower to assist with the rappelling portion of the event.

Cadets and instructors from Incline JROTC also helped cadets from other schools with different activities. Cadets from all schools had fun and built upon teamwork, leadership and making new friends.
