Incline Village community notes: Jan. 6, 2016

Hooray for the snow and tourists. We have at last been able to boast about ski resorts with real snow. But boo for the trash left behind. Of course, the real sport is watching the skilled drivers out there and how many seem to think the Mt. Rose Highway should be a parking lot in the Meadows area. Be careful in this area locals! It is scary.

With all of the new snow, it is the perfect time to get discounted lift tickets for skiing at Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood from Tahoe SAFE Alliance. For information, contact, call 775-298-0010 or stop at their office located in the DWR Community Non-Profit Center.

The annual Ullr Fest events from Friday, Jan. 22, to Sunday, Jan. 24, will certainly be more exciting this year with so much snow. The torchlight parade should not be missed and the other special activities are always fun. Visit for information.

The Incline Village-Crystal Bay Republican Women’s Club recently installed new officers for 2016: Linda L. Smith, President; Patricia Moser Morris, 1st Vice President; Shirley Appel, 2nd Vice President; Charlotte Curtis, Secretary; and Lorri Waldman, Treasurer. New members are always welcome and can join by contacting Shirley Appel at or 775-831-1505.

The Women’s Club of North Tahoe will hold its first luncheon meeting of the year at Noon on Monday, Jan. 18, at Sunshine Deli, located at 919 Incline Way. The program for this event will feature Ann Valdes from Easel and Wine with an opportunity to participate in a collaborative painting and win this masterpiece at the end of the luncheon. Reservations must be made to Lorri Waldman by calling 775-831-8039 or email by Jan. 15.
