Village Notes

Grab the golf clubs, picnic blanket and beach toys, here it comes, the first weekend at the lake. Let’s hope for sunshine along with warm temperatures to welcome everyone to Tahoe. It is a long weekend too with the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, so many local offices will be closed.

To start your weekend, the Incline Village/Crystal Bay Veterans Club invites everyone to its annual Memorial Day Celebration at 4 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the Incline Recreation Center. This is a time for remembering the men and women who died while serving our country. The event will begin with patriotic music, followed by a formal ceremony at 4:20 p.m.

A reminder that the Bonanza Friday morning community meetings will not happen again until June 3.

The Incline Village Community Hospital Auxiliary’s annual Classy Garage Sale in the Community Hospital Parking Lot is Saturday, June 4. If you have donations, drop off is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the hospital parking lot. Individual spaces can be rented by contacting Karen at 775-833-3244 or Barbara at 775-832-6760. To arrange for furniture to be picked up call Karen at 775-833-3244 or Jill at 775-831-2813.

Plan to attend the free economic forum, “Volatility and Investment Trends” at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. The Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation’s forum includes an opportunity for the audience and presenters to share and exchange knowledge. Reserve a space by contacting jeane@parasol.org or call 775-298-0184.

Put this date on your calendar. From 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at Truckee-Tahoe Lumber in downtown Truckee, two of Incline’s artists will be in the Makers event. Stop over and see Ronnie and Dave Rector’s display as this is a chance to view art from two very talented local artists.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraiser will have a new format and location this year. The event will be called Luminaries on the Lake and will be held from 5-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Aspen Grove. Please save the date and start getting together teams. Contact Brendan O’Donovan, Chairman, to find out how you can get more involved at 323-490-3281.

Linda and Richard Offerdahl will celebrate their anniversary on June 1. Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! One Birthday to celebrate this week: Madylon Meiling on June 1. Happy Birthday!

The Deal or Steal for this week is to sign up for Raley’s app to receive text or get their email alerts for $5 deals. The specials are incredible and always start your week out with a bargain. Sign up and watch for the information on Monday morning.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, before 5 p.m. on Tuesday to jeanmeick@aol.com.
