Incline Village community notes: Sept. 21, 2016

The power outage on Monday did make for an interesting start to the week. As usual, it was only a small area that had the opportunity to sleep a little later.

Now that fall has arrived colors are popping up all around including the brown color. Yes, our bears are ready to welcome fall and are out looking for opportunities. Please secure your neighborhoods to keep them safe.

At 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the North Lake Tahoe Demonstration Garden located on the campus of Sierra Nevada College, attend the last gardening class of the season. The special free workshop by the University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners features “Lake Tahoe’s Fall Planting — Onions, Garlic and other Alliums.” Please contact Margaret Solomon at or call 775-831-8437 for more information.

The community is invited to the Incline Village/Crystal Bay Veterans Club Community Ball from 5-10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at The Chateau. Commemorating the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor and 25th Anniversary of Desert Storm, the evening features dinner, music and dancing. Tickets can be purchased at the Rec. Center or call 775-832-1310 for information.

Splash splash the dogs are back. The annual Dog Days of Fall presented by Incline Village Parks and Recreation Department and Pet Network Humane Society is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Burnt Cedar Pool. This is a fun event to watch even if you do not have a dog!

Visit the Bee Inclined Quilters Expo at the Incline Village Library from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Incline Village Library.

Yes there is still time to get in a little golf before the end of the season and we have a hole-in-one to report. Congratulations to Erik Schauss for his hole-in-one on Sept. 12 on hole 11 on the Mountain Course.

Happy Anniversary to Tia and Marc Rancourt Sept. 22. Congratulations!

Happy birthday to a couple of Mikes this week. First, Capt. Mike (Michael Rions) will be celebrating with a sail around on Sept. 22, and the Mike Chamberlain will be celebrating with a photo party on Sept. 23. Happy Birthday!

The Deal or Steal for this week is to attend homecoming festivities on Friday, Sept. 23. The parade is in the afternoon, and the annual football game begins at 7 p.m. Go support our local kids.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, before 5 p.m. on Tuesday to
