Wisdom of Inner Listening
Yoga is an effective method of movement that promotes health and vitality. Join an Aug. 9 workshop, designed for participants of all levels to access their inner wisdom and gain a deeper knowledge into yoga as a path to wellness. Your two-hour yoga journey will include gentle pranayama (breathing practices), yoga asana and guided meditation, plus two experienced instructors, Barbara Ricotta, RN, is a licensed acupuncturist, holistic nurse and yoga instructor and Deborah Scarborough, certified yoga therapist and instructor. Saturdays, 8:30-10:30 a.m., Incline Village Recreation Center (backyard), 980 Incline Way, Incline Village. Cost is $30; $25 with IVGID pass (each workshop); $20 for 55+; and $35 day of retreat drop-in.

Paddleboard yoga on Lake Tahoe
Who needs a yoga mat? Climb on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and experience yoga in a whole new way. Build endurance, balance, full body strength and coordination. Pack your smile along with sunscreen, swim shirt and towel. Paddleboards will be provided. Class begins with brief paddleboard lesson. Paddle along the shoreline starting at Ski Beach, then return to Incline Beach for one hour of SUP yoga. Your instructor Jennifer will customize the class to meet individual levels of experience. Pre-registration required.

Living My Life Purpose series
Have you been wanting to hone in on the true calling of your life? Use materials from Marcia Sutton and Lloyd Strom, who developed exercises and readings to help live in accordance with divine purpose. Goals are to become clearer about this purpose and to align with it to make the world a better place. Address the spiritual nature of our lives, what to practice for this to be increasingly expressed.

Mindfulness-based stress reduction
Introductory workshop. Explore the effects of stress and how to cultivate more effective coping strategies with Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at the Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance, Tuesday, Aug. 19, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The workshop consists of mindfulness meditation, gentle movement (yoga, Qi Gong), mindful eating and class discussion on ways to cultivate a more calm and healthy life.
Experience lasting benefits: Increased self-awareness, trust and acceptance; more accepting attitude toward life's challenges; decrease in stress-related symptoms; decrease in addictive behaviors; significant decrease in anxiety and depression; improved concentration and creativity; improved immune function; and increase in stress resilience.

Tahoe Sierra Century Ride slated for September
Benefiting North Tahoe's middle and high school music programs, this fall favorite has earned praise for its scenic routes, challenging hill climbs (60- and 100- mile routes), full support services and legendary after-party featuring awesome food, drink and live student music. The Tahoe Sierra Century Ride is slated for Saturday, Sept. 13.
All of the routes start and finish in the Village at Squaw Valley. The 30-mile route is a novice ride between Squaw Valley and the west end of Donner Lake. The 60-mile route heads to Donner Lake, then climbs over Donner Pass, along Highway 40 and follows it to Big Bend before returning to Squaw Valley. The century ride follows the north shore of Lake Tahoe, then crosses Brockway Summit to Tahoe Donner and Donner Lake before climbing Donner Summit and returning to Squaw Valley.

Nevada Senior Farmers Market nutrition program coupons accepted at Lake Tahoe Markets
Lake Tahoe Markets is proud to honor the Nevada Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). The SFMNP provides low-income seniors with coupons that can be exchanged for eligible foods at participating Nevada farmers markets. The purpose of this program is to increase the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs and honey and to supplement the nutritional needs of Nevada seniors. Seniors must meet income criteria established by the federal government. To qualify you must be a Nevada resident at least 60-years-old, meet specific income guidelines and sign up at a local Distributing Agency Site.
