Sunshine letter: Great collaboration for Bud Fish tree lighting
December 22, 2015
The annual Downtown Holiday Festival and Bud Fish Tree Lighting Ceremony this year was a wonderful success. This event exemplifies community collaboration. Thank you to the sponsors: Truckee Downtown Merchants Association, Truckee Rotary, the Town of Truckee and media partner Sierra Sun.
And a special THANK YOU to all that made this event possible:
Town of Truckee, and especially Bret Albert, for going above and beyond to coordinate efforts for cutting down and transporting the tree; Don Davis for his generosity to try to make a beautiful tree off his property work for our town tree; the U.S. Forest Service and Linda Ferguson from the Truckee Ranger District for finding us a beautiful tree; the Truckee Rotary for donating hot chocolate, cookies, candy canes and money, as well as a space for Santa to visit with children; and the TDMA for organizing the event and breaking things down.
Also thanks to the Truckee Donner PUD for using its crane to lift the tree into place and donating LED lighting; Stephanie Olivieri for donating school trees for children to trim; all the men (Mike, Bill, Tom, Geoff, Dean, Darren and Jerry) who volunteered to cut, move and hang the school trees; Erskine Creative Photography; Starlight Enterprises; Crux; volunteer police; and Claudia Waters and the Glenshire Elementary Choir.
And last but not least, to all the schools and the children who help bring cheer to Historic Downtown Truckee! Thank you all! Have a Happy and Safe Holiday Season!
