Sunshine Letter | Starbucks kicks in for veterans

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — And kudos to the good people a Starbucks.

On Monday, Veterans Day, I walked in to Starbucks, handed them my credit card and said, as long as I’m here today, I’m buying the coffee for any vet who comes in, please ask folks if they’re veterans?

It was my very, tiny small way of saying thanks vets, we remember and appreciate you.

About an hour and a half later, I got ready to leave and went to pick up my credit card and asked how much I owed. “Had anyone gotten a free cup?” I asked.

“Oh yeah, a few and we did ask people if they were a veteran,” they explained.

“So how much?”

Nothing. Starbucks refused to charge my credit card. “That was such a nice gesture,” they said, “we decided it was on us.”

So thank you Vets and thank you Starbucks.
