Sunshine Letter: Thanks for SWEP film fest success
Thank you to all our partners and friends who supported the inaugural Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships (SWEP) Film Festival and 20th Anniversary Gala.
Our theme this year was “Water. The Essential!” The film program was spectacular, developed by Darren Campbell from Coldstream Creative. Sunnyside Resort provided a fabulous venue for the Gala. Steve and Melissa Siig from the Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema were instrumental in our success as the main film venue.
Moe’s Original Bar B Que provided our second film venue and were very supportive. The speakers and award winning filmmakers provided credibility to our film program, including: Brant Allan from the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center; Christopher Beaver , with “Tulare: The Phantom Lake Drought Edition”; Will Parrinello of the New Environmentalists Series; Mikey Wier and Craig Ballenger of CalTrout; and Joe Hill of Tahoe Water Suppliers Association.
SWEP also had the pleasure of presenting local legendary filmmakers, Tom Day, Mike Hatchett, and snowboard legend Jeremy Jones, who hosted an interesting session about adventure filmmaking on Saturday night.
SWEP could not have provided such a great event without the help of our sponsors. We also want to especially thank Lolly Kupec and Margie Reynolds for event promotion as well as all the other Committee members.
