Sunshine letter: Truckee is a giving, supportive community

I would like to recognize how giving and supportive this community is and give thanks and recognition to the local establishments who recently contributed to the Sierra Nevada Geotourism auction.

The historic River Street Inn, on the banks of the Truckee River, donated one night’s lodging, followed by a complimentary continental breakfast. The auction winner, Jerry Farrell of Grass Valley, was treated to a personalized tour of the town of Truckee, led by a guide from the Truckee Donner Historical Society.

The Truckee Tavern and FiftyFifty Brewing Co. both hosted Jerry and his friend to an evening of food and spirits. As a final treat, Tahoe Sailing Charter took Farrell for a sunset sailboat cruise on Lake Tahoe.

All proceeds from this auction support the Sierra Nevada Geotourism project (, which works to improve the health, wealth and environmental quality of the region. We look forward to providing an auction every season!
