Tahoe City’s Salvaged art cooperative offering adult and children’s classes
TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Salvaged, the newest art cooperative in Tahoe City, announced its list of fall art classes designed for children and adults, to be taught by artists and cofounders Alissa Morganti and Renee Koijane.
An Adults’ Guided Drawing Class is being offered by Renee Koijane. Designed as a three-day session, this class explores the basics of drawing including shading, composition and positive and negative space. Each session will explore various techniques with three different subjects to be sketched using pencils and charcoal. Students may bring own materials or use those on hand at the Salvaged studio. Session will be Wednesdays Sept. 11, 18 and 25, 6-7:30 p.m. Cost is $60 for all three sessions or $25 to drop in on one; materials included.
Also for adults, Alissa will also offer an Adult Open Studio night the first Friday of every month, 6-8 p.m. Salvaged provides the materials, space and inspiration — an opportunity for camaraderie and creativity with each Friday focusing on a different medium. This class is $20 per session for individuals, $30 for couples. Participants may bring their own beverages.
Children will wnat to check out Alissa Morganti’s two different classes. The first is a flat art, in which students will focus on all aspects of 2-D art such as drawing, charcoal, pastels and watercolor. This class is on Tuesdays, Sept. 24-Oct. 29, 3-4 p.m.
On Wednesdays, Sept. 25-Oct. 30, Alissa will teach “SMOOS” art, or “stuff made out of stuff.” This class is a Salvaged take on upcycled or recycled in which found objects are re-imagined.
Each class is $110 for entire six-week session or $20 per class drop-in; material included. Alissa is able to meet students at the Granlibakken bus stop for those riding the after school bus.
Space for all classes is limited. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot.
