Truckee motorcycle club donates $2K to Dave Richardson memorial fund
The Truckee Crew M.C. (Motorcycle Club) held its 14th annual benefit party this past summer with another north lake loop Poker Run.
It started at El Toro Bravo restaurant in Truckee, then went to Squaw Valley; from there, it traveled to Pete & Peter’s in Tahoe City, to Brockway Golf Course in Kings Beach, back over Highway 267 to the Pastime Club in Truckee, and finally back to El Toro Bravo for lunch, raffle prizes, a live auction, and friendly mingling and greetings with one another on a beautiful sunny day in June.
This year’s run was a benefit for Dave Richardson’s family. Dave passed away in a tragic racing accident at Fernley Raceway on May 25, 2013.
He was known as a hard-working family man who had a wry sense of humor and a passion for cars and motorcycles. Crew M.C. raised and donated $2,000 to the Dave Richardson Memorial Fund from the event.
“This was a record high donation for the Crew M.C., and we wish to express are overwhelming gratitude to all of you out there that made this gift possible for Dave’s family,” said club vice president Craig Close (aka Lazzlo). “We are very proud of our members, prospects, volunteers, local sponsors, the Sierra Bible Church, the participating Motorcycle Clubs, enthusiasts, and locals who made our event the most successful one ever.”
Next year’s event will again take place on the first Saturday in June as it has for the past 14 years. Close said the group looks forward to another year of friendly mountain motorcycle fun with Crew M.C., where everyone is always welcome.
