November has arrived and of course that means we are just one month away from the holidays, prepare now for your escape!

Saturday, Nov. 8, is the annual Tahoe Chocolate & Wine Festival, a fundraiser for Tahoe SAFE Alliance. If you are interested in attending call 775-298-0010 to see if tickets are still available.

Also on Saturday, join the Bee Inclined Quilters from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Incline Village Library, 845 Alder Avenue, for free quilting demonstrations, various quilts and quilted items for sale, along with an outstanding bake sale. All proceeds will be used to purchase materials for future community or charity quilts. For more information call 775-831-4874.

Tuesday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day and a great chance for everyone to say “Thank You” to one of the many veterans in our community. Keep in mind that many businesses, schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday including the IVGID administration building and the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation. Also, no mail is delivered on Veteran’ Day.

On Saturday, Nov. 15, participate in Mark Twain’s 179th Birthday Celebration at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall in the Village Center. The incomparable Squeek Steel will be at the piano. To make a reservation visit mcavoylayne@gmail.com or call 775-833-1835.

Now is the time to help Project MANA feed those in need in our community for Thanksgiving. Last year almost 600 families received Thanksgiving meals from Project MANA. For $50, Project MANA can provide a wonderful holiday meal for a family. To help, as a volunteer, to drop off canned items, frozen turkeys or monetary donations visit wwwprojectmana.org or stop at their office located in the DWR Center.

Stop by Raley’s from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, to enjoy live music, boutique wines and appetizers. This will be a benefit to support Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF).

The Kings Beach Community Thanksgiving Celebration will be Thursday, Nov. 27, at the North Tahoe Event Center. Anyone interested in helping at the event or volunteering should call Meera Beser at 775-230-1066.

Happy Anniversary to Ed and Emy Gurowitz on Nov. 20.

No birthdays to celebrate this week but that does not mean you cannot eat cupcakes. Enjoy.

The Deal or Steal this week is on Sunday, Nov. 9, at Bowl Incline. Starting at noon is a 9-pin no tap tournament to benefit the Bowlers to Veterans Link which provides entertainment for veterans locally and across the country. Walk-ins are welcome. Need more information call 775-772-2210.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday to jeanmeick@aol.com.
