Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village?

Jean Eick
Special to the Bonanza

All right who did it? Who told the world about our lake and our great weather? Please stop telling people about Tahoe as we are filled to the max.

In fact, even the bears are now looking for homes at Tahoe. Just ask Janet Pahl about the one at her Open House.

Congratulations to the Tahoe Biltmore. They have finished working on the new restaurant, Bilty’s Brew and Q, featuring some interesting food and craft beers. Go check it out.

Remember all of our local summer activities that need our support too. The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival continues with “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” For tickets visit http://www.laketahoeshakespeare.com or stop at the office located in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. Lake Tahoe SummerFest Classical Music Concert tickets are now on sale. Visit http://www.tahoesummerfest.org or stop at the SummerFest office in the DWR Center.

Danielle Sieger Erikson reminded me that you can still purchase advance tickets to the Carnival this weekend in Truckee at Tahoe’s Connection for Families at 761 Northwood Blvd. in Incline. The Carnival runs through Sunday July 28 in the Truckee Regional Park off Highway 267. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Tahoe’s Connection for Families. If you have questions visit http://www.tcfkids.org or call 775-832-8230.

The Women’s Club annual Fashion Show, “Fashions from A to Z,” is at 11 a.m. August 3 in the Lakeside Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency. To purchase tickets call Cookie Steinberg at 775-298-2665.

At 5:30 p.m on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center, attend the free community forum, Insights into Brain Health. This will feature world-class experts from the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Brain Center in Las Vegas. The doctors will present information on Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and talk about the state-of-the-art patient care and treatments available. The forum is free but reserve your spot as space is limited at http://www.parasol.org/reservations or call Jean Eick at 775-298-0184.

Congratulations to local golfers traveling to Monterey on July 29 and July 30 for the 2013 NCGA North Sierra Zone Championship. Team Gary B erge and Phil Zaragoza took first place, shooting 61, and Jack Hubbard and Mark Morrow second place with 62. Way to go!

It seems that no one has a birthday this week to celebrate or everyone is at the beach. Don’t forget to send in your anniversaries and birthdays. I am sure we have disappointed someone this week.

The best deal in the Village this week is the Tahoe Chamber Music Concert at 2:30 on Sunday, July 28, in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. For information visit http://www.tahoechambermusic.org.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
