Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village
Special to the Bonanza
Oh my, it is already August. Where or where did our summer go? No worries because we are just about to find our “secret days” at Tahoe — when all of our guests leave and we get to have our vacations and our beaches.
Remember to support Relay for Life this Friday and Saturday at Preston Field. Events begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and end at 9 a.m. on Saturday. For a complete list of the events, visit the schedule online or in today’s newspaper.
The Women’s Club annual Fashion Show, “Fashions from A to Z,” is 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lakeside Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency. It will feature fashions from Dillard’s. Also the auction item with two round trip tickets from Los Angeles to La Paz, Mexico, plus two nights at the Costa Baja Resort Marina & Golf in La Paz (a deluxe 18-hold course designed by Gary Player) and a two night stay at the Guaycura Hotel & Spa has a value of $1,640. If you still want to purchase tickets. call Cookie Steinberg at 775-298-2665.
Just one more reminder, in case you did not notice, we live in a forest along with wildlife. Please, no trash or dog food in the garage. No bird feeders or bird food outside. Keep our favorite residents, the bears, safe.
Plan now to attend the Insights into Brain Health free community forum at 5:30 p.m on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. World-class experts from the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Brain Center in Las Vegas will present information on Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and talk about the state-of-the-art patient care and treatments available.
Community sponsors include Incline Village Community Hospital, North Lake Tahoe Bonanza and Sierra Sun. The forum is free but please reserve your spot as space is limited at http://www.parasol.org/reservations or call Jean Eick at 775-298-0184.
Purchase tickets now to attend The Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation 2013 Community Table on Friday, Sept. 6, at the Shakespeare Ranch in Glenbrook. Visit http://www.parasol.org for tickets. Tickets are going fast and seating is limited.
Congratulations to local golfers winning the Wine and Nine Event last week. Carol Johnson, Susan Herron, Susan Johnson, Terri Fitzpatrick, Danny Kerr and of course Lori (I can’t putt) Pommerenck won the event. Way to go.
More golf news — -congratulations to Dennis Griffiths for a hole-in-one on July 28 at the Mountain Golf Course. Still time to enjoy golf season.
Congratulations to Stacy and Ray Collins on a new healthy baby daughter, Riley, born Thursday, July 25. Congratulations to big sister Cameron too. Stacy is a marketing consultant for the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza and Sierra Sun.
Happy Anniversary to Elise Fett and Rob Lober. And Happy Anniversary to Aaron and Danielle Zendner on Aug. 3.
It is birthday time. First, we totally missed Chris Bryan’s birthday on July 22. Birthdays this week include: Kristen Ferrall on July 28, Steve Andersen on Aug. 2; James “JP” Peterson on Aug. 6 and Bob Croke on Aug. 7. Happy Birthday.
The best deal in the Village this week is definitely Wine and Nine. It is only $30 per person for nine holes of golf, delicious food and fantastic wines. It is such a deal that it sells out, so go enjoy one of the benefits of being a local.
As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to email@example.com.
