Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village
Special to the Bonanza
School is back in session down the hill and it will not be long before local children will also be back to school. To help everyone get into the school groove, from 1-6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, at Incline Beach, go participate in the plastic footprint project. This is an art outreach project led by Incline High School Art teacher Ann Clark. Stop and see the sculpture and talk to the students to learn more.
If you have not had an opportunity to see Mark Twain’s “conversations on the lawn” at the Recreation Center, you still have time. Check out the Aug. 26 or Sept. 9 events by stopping at the Rec Center.
Everyone is invited to attend a free community forum, “Insights into Brain Health,” at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. Come hear world-class experts from the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Brain Center in Las Vegas talk about Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and the state-of-the-art patient care and treatments available. Community sponsors include Incline Village Community Hospital, North Lake Tahoe Bonanza and Sierra Sun. The forum is free but please reserve your spot at http://www.parasol.org/reservations or call Jean Eick at 775-298-0184.
The Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation 2013 Community Table is on Friday, Sept. 6, at the Shakespeare Ranch in Glenbrook. Chef Nancy Oakes and her staff from Boulevard in San Francisco will be preparing an amazing dinner for this event. Visit http://www.parasol.org for tickets.
Hooray for Team Iannucci for winning the Nine and Wine Event last week. Way to go and we understand the competition is heating up during this weekly event.
Congratulations to Diane Vail for the hole-in-one on Number 14 at the Champ Course on Aug. 6, and to Jim Christopherson for his ace on Number 8 at the Champ Course on Aug. 7. Way to go!
Birthdays to celebrate: Cathy Jo Johnson (50th) on Aug. 17; Liz Paganelli on Aug. 18; Perri Finch and Svata Trossen on Aug. 19; and Barbara Schwerdtfeger on Aug. 21. Happy Birthday!
The best deal in the village this week is the Shabby Chic auction and bazaar from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 in the Village Center. This event is sponsored by Sierra Verde Home Design Center and is a fundraiser for Tahoe Family Solutions.
As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to email@example.com.
