Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village
Special to the Bonanza
Are you ready for some snow? I know it looks wonderful outside, but we all know that now is the time to get chains along with all of the other winter driving items needed in your car. Be prepared.
Please remember to drive safely around Incline Way, Highway 28 and along Country Club drive tonight, Oct. 24. The annual community Halloween event, the Trail of Treats and Terror is from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Please watch for children dashing about.
Nevada Day is Friday, and a lot of local offices, including the IVGID administration offices and the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation, will be closed so the employees can celebrate the 75th birthday of our great state.
Just in time to get everyone in the mood for Nevada Day, The Ghost of Mark Twain will present a 90-minute program, “Nevada 150 Years Ago,” on Friday, Oct. 25, at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall located in the Village Center. As is always the tradition, bring your picnic basket and beverages to enjoy beginning at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $20 and to make reservations call 775-833-1835.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, the annual Nevada Day Parade in Carson City features the hot air balloon event at 8 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. flyover by the military and then the parade. For other events go to http://www.nevadaday.com.
The Rotary Club of Incline Village invites all community veterans and active duty members plus spouses to a luncheon on Monday, Nov. 11, to celebrate Veterans Day at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. Please RSVP no later than Wednesday, Nov. 6, to email@example.com with names, phone number, email address, branch and years of service.
Don’t forget at 6 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 22, to attend an informational meeting at the North Tahoe Event Center if you are interested in helping with the annual Tahoe Community Thanksgiving Celebration. To learn more visit firstname.lastname@example.org or call Meera Beser at 775-230-1066.
We only have a couple of birthdays to celebrate this week: Sandy Soli on Oct. 26 and Geno Menchetti on Nov. 1. Happy Birthday.
The best deal and steal in the Village this week is for children and is the free community Halloween extravaganza the Trail of Treats and Terror from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.
As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to jean email@example.com.
