Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

Jean Eick
Special to the Bonanza

Now is the time to get prepared for winter driving as we know that the Pray for Snow party at the Hacienda has been scheduled, and that always brings snow. We can also expect Mother Nature to begin the season at any time and planning ahead for winter driving is necessary.

To know exactly what to pack in your car and read important winter driving tips, please go to the Nevada Department of Transportation website under winter driving tips.

There is still time to help Project MANA’s Let’s Talk Turkey program. Frozen turkeys will be accepted through Nov. 25, but monetary donations and other food items can be dropped off any time to Project MANA in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center at 948 Incline Way.

Don’t forget to help the Incline Community Toy Drive by dropping new unwrapped toys in one of the collection barrels. Incline Village Community Business Association will also have a special collection during the Christmas Tree Village Mixer on Friday, Dec. 6. For more information or to make a donation to the toy collection visit http://www.visitinclinevillage.com.

The annual Brunch with Santa is Saturday, Dec. 14, at The Chateau. Tickets are now on sale. For information visit http://www.tahoefamily.org or call Tahoe Family Solutions at 775-298-0004.

Upcoming events at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall include “Chautauqua — Theodore Roosevelt” on Friday, Nov. 22, and Mark Twain’s 178th birthday celebration on Nov. 30. For information and reservations, call 775-833-1835.

Incline Elementary School needs help from our community for the new reading club from 2:15-3:30 p.m. every Wednesday. The club will do reading, writing and lots of other crafts and social activities. Please give your support by contacting audreyhartyeamericorps@gmail.com to volunteer at the Reading Club.

We have a couple of anniversary shout outs this week: Wayne and Cindy McClelland on Nov. 25 and Marc and Tia Rancourt. But the big anniversary shout out this week is to Mark and Susan Herron on Nov. 26 as they celebrate 25 years! Wow! Congratulations and Happy Anniversary.

Birthdays to celebrate this week: Eric Gwiazdowski on Nov. 22; Barb Collier on Nov. 24; Claudia Andersen and Danielle Zendner on Nov. 27; and Samantha Swing and Julie Zendner-Hernandez on Nov. 28. Happy Birthday!

For the best deal and steal in the village this week, stop at the Incline Village Library today at 4 p.m. (Nov. 21) to catch the program about guide dogs. It is free and very informative.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
