Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

Hope everyone is having fun with beach days again. Pack up the picnic and start the New Year out with a barbecue. We really do not need the snow to spend the day at the beach. OK, so we still need the snow but we have to take what we get so go enjoy.

If you do happen to be into the snow thing IVGID Community Appreciation Days begin on Sunday, Jan. 5, at Diamond Peak. This means IVGID picture pass holders can get a free lift ticket, experience discounts on food and beverage items, win raffle prizes and more. Diamond Peak Season Pass holders also will be able to receive some special items. This event runs through Friday, Jan. 10.

Plan now to attend National Winter Trail Days at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Center on Jan. 11. This is sponsored by Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, REI and other outdoor companies and organizations. Go learn more about snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and winter skills. For information visit or call 775-298-0066.

Now that the holidays are over, stop at Incline Elementary School and volunteer to help with the new reading club from 2:15-3:30 p.m. every Wednesday. This is only for one hour to help out with reading, writing and lots of other crafts and social activities. Contact or stop at IES and sign up to volunteer for the Reading Club.

Remember to save the date for the annual Father/Daughter dance on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Tahoe Biltmore. This is a very special annual event sponsored by Tahoe SAFE Alliance and the Tahoe Biltmore. Tickets can be purchased at or call 775-298-0010.

Parasol’s AmeriCorps program is now accepting applications for AmeriCorps Host Sites. To learn more and fill out the application visit or call Allison at 775-298-0186.

Happy Anniversary to my husband Gerry on Jan. 5.

Only one birthday to celebrate this week: Bryan Wallpe on Jan. 9. Happy Birthday Bryan.

The best deal and steal this week is to go to the Hacienda de La Sierra on Monday, Jan. 13. Beginning at 4 p.m. is a special fundraiser supporting The Incline Cheerleading Program, which is back. Please go have a great meal and support the 13 young ladies on the team.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to
