Oh yes it is time for the annual snow event for Memorial weekend. It always snows at Tahoe to celebrate the opening of the lake. Lots of local barbecues and yard sales planned for this weekend as well as projects like cleaning out the garage or enjoying a new pantry. Of course, taking center stage is the official opening of the lake.

If you want to celebrate with a parade, head over to Virginia City. The parade starts at noon on Saturday, May 24, and celebrates the heroism and sacrifice of those Americans who died defending our freedom. Freedom is not free.

Donna and Matthew Axton and Ed Platt will make a special appearance on Friday, May 30, at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall in the Village Center. For reservations and tickets visit or call 775-833-1835.

Plan now to participate in the village clean up. The Incline Village/Crystal Bay Community Cleanup Day is Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. Check in at the IVGID Recreation Center for a location and go clean our village. For information, email or call 775-832-1284.

On Saturday, June 7, you and your dog are invited to a very special hike hosted by Natural Paws. The hike is a benefit for Pet Network Humane Society and the Canine Rehabilitation Center & Sanctuary. For more information about the hike visit or call 775-853-3533.

Attend a Fashion Show of Notable and Notorious Women of Nevada at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at The Chateau. It promises to be a fun and entertaining luncheon to celebrate the 150th Birthday of Nevada and features characters from 1862 to 2014. This is sponsored by the Republican Women. Please help the Incline Elementary School as a volunteer tutor for its summer reading Program. Children in grades Pre-K through fourth-grade will participate in this special summer program. No experience tutoring needed just a desire to help children read. Training will be provided. Tutors will work with 2-3 students Monday-Thursday for 1 hour at Incline Elementary School. Summer bowling started this week at Bowl Incline. Hopefully we will hear more about what our local bowlers are up to this summer.

Congratulations to Erika Wegener. She graduated from Syracuse University with her Incline family on hand to celebrate.
