Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

Special to the Bonanza

Goodbye summer and hello football season. This is our big Labor Day Weekend and probably the best weekend of the year to enjoy Tahoe.

A couple of things happening today, Aug. 28, you might want to include in your plans. From 1-4 p.m. the Bee Inclined Quilters have their Aug. meeting at the Incline Village library. All levels of quilters are invited to join. Next, head over to the Open Mic from 7-10 p.m. at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall located in the Village Center. Mike Trute and Brendan O’Donovan invite you to karaoke, poetry, and comedy.

At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, is the Incline Village & Crystal Bay Historical Society Mark Twain Kayak Tour of Lake Tahoe. Visit bit.ly/twainkayak to reserve your spot or for information.

On Friday, Sept. 5 at the Shakespeare Ranch in Glenbrook join the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation at its annual fundraiser, the 2014 Community Table. But you need to purchase tickets now, as they are not sold at the door. Visit http://www.parasol.org/community or call Jean Eick at 775-298-0184.

Sunday, Sept. 7, at the North Tahoe Regional Park is the annual Dog Day in the Park fundraiser for Wyle Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF) and is free to attend. For information visit http://www.tahoeunleashed.com or call Pam at 530-546-4770.

Congrats to local artist Ronnie Rector. Her beautiful painting won Best of Show at the Sacramento WASH watercolor exhibit. Way to go Ronnie.

Save the date of Saturday, Oct. 25 for the annual Tahoe Family Solutions bowl-a-thon. Start now putting together a group, as this is one fun event. For information call 775-298-0004.

You can buy your tickets now for the annual Tahoe Fall Fest supporting Tahoe’s Connection for Families. The event is Thursday, Sept. 18 at Gar Woods Grill and Pier. To purchase tickets or for information visit http://www.tahoefallfest.org.

Another hole-in-one to report. Congratulations to Bill Simmons on Aug. 20 on hole 7 at the Moutain Golf Course.

A huge Incline welcome to visitors at the Herron Cottage, Richard and Sue. They are seeing all the local sights including a trip on the V&T Railroad.

Birthdays to celebrate this week: Kathy Long and Sharon Kennedy on Sept. 2. Happy Birthday!

The best deal and steal this week is at Incline Village. Take a staycation for the Labor Day Weekend and play tourist here. So much to do not only in Incline but all around our area. Have you been on the V&T Railroad? Enjoy!

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday to jeanmeick@aol.com.
