Just when we start enjoying the crisp evenings smoke returns. Let’s hope this will be a short stay and we can continue to enjoy Tahoe’s outdoors as fall approaches. Remember today, Sept. 11, is Patriot Day.

Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Crystal Bay Club is the annual Kids and Horses barbecue. Includes a barbecue, music by local musicians, and both a silent and live auction. For more information visit or pick up tickets at the Potlatch or Bowl Incline. All proceeds benefit the Kids and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Minden.

Tahoe’s Connection for Families annual Tahoe Fall Fest is Thursday, Sept. 18, at Gar Woods Grill and Pier. To purchase tickets or for information visit

The Washoe County Sheriff’s picnic is Sunday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Aspen Grove. This is a family event with lots of special features as well as food.

Join Project MANA for a Foodie Event on Oct. 17 at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. This will be an interactive presentation featuring Paella. To purchase tickets or for information visit or stop at their office located in the DWR Center. This event supports Project MANA.

Put together a group of co-workers, family members or friends and join the annual Tahoe Family Solutions Bowl-a-thon on Saturday, Oct. 25. This annual fundraiser for TFS features lots of local celebrities bowling. For information call 775-298-0004.

It was nice to see Manny and Marge Sylvester’s grandson, Bill, and his fiancé, Lori, in Incline last weekend. Hope everyone enjoyed lots of special time together.
