Yes, we are enjoying some great beach days, but Thanksgiving is around the corner, and we need a white blanket on the ground. Let’s start with the pray for snow parties at the beach as it is time to have a real snowstorm and not the teasers. Bring it on!

If you want to help Project MANA provide a Thanksgiving meal for those in need in our community, please be sure to make your food. Canned goods and frozen turkeys can be dropped off at the Project MANA office in the DWR Center. Monetary donations and volunteers are also needed.

Participate in Mark Twain’s 179th Birthday Celebration at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall in the Village Center on Saturday, Nov. 15. The incomparable Squeek Steel will be at the piano. To make a reservation, email mcavoylayne@gmail.com or call 775-833-1835.

On Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 5:30 p.m. the Tahoe Nevada Chapter of AAUW will host its monthly meeting at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. The featured speaker for the meeting is Danielle Rees, Executive Director of Girls on the Run-Sierras. This is also a collection of non-perishable food items for Project MANA. To RSVP, please contact Kelly Neville at kellyaauw@gmail.com or call 775-762-0463 by no later than Monday, Nov. 17.

Head over to Raley’s to enjoy live music, boutique wines and appetizers.from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, and to support Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF).

Thursday, Nov. 27, at the North Tahoe Event Center is the Kings Beach Community Thanksgiving Celebration. Anyone interested in helping at the event or volunteering should call Meera Beser at 775-230-1066.

A huge Thank You from all of the bowlers last week at the Veterans Fundraiser Tournament to the Incline High JROTC crew: Joe Prater, Oliver Larson, Victor Herrera and Abraham Morales, led by 1st Sgt. Charles Porter. And Thank You to Stephanie Gansberg for singing our national anthem. What an amazing voice! And of course the last Thank You is to all of the bowlers that turned out for this event.

Bruce Simonian will be doing a couple of upcoming book signings for “Pursuit of Vengeance.” From 8-11a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29, at Starbucks, and from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Bookshelf in Truckee.

Birthdays to celebrate this week: Ron Birmingham and Katie Ferrall on Nov. 14, and Kim Casselberry and Zander Wallpe on Nov. 20. Happy Birthday.

The Deal or Steal this week is from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 — attend the International Games Day at the Incline Library. Board games are provided along with refreshments and it is free.
