Happy Thanksgiving. Forget the Black Friday sales, avoid the traffic delays and enjoy Tahoe. Get out and enjoy the day and if you really feel the need to do some shopping try one of our local shops. Or just go enjoy one of our local restaurants for some fine refreshments.

In today’s newspaper, check out the non-profit Wish List. This is an easy way to do your holiday shopping and you will give a gift that will make a difference. Let the giving season begin.

Check out all of the activities at Sand Harbor during the Holidays this year. Participate in ranger talks and walks, crafts, Santa and more to come. For information, visit http://www.parks.nv.gov or the Facebook Page for Sand Harbor or call 775-831-0494.

At last, the annual Pray for Snow Party is almost here. The Hacienda hosts the 28th annual party at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. It features live music, giveaways and great prices and of course dancing to please the snow gods. Everyone needs to make this happen.

At 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, Twain Historian Larry Schmidt will examine Intriguing Clues to Sam Clemens & Lake Tahoe. This is at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall in the Village Center. To make a reservation email mcavoylayne@gmail.com or call 775-833-1835.

“Sing We Now of Christmas,” a festival of lessons and carols, takes place Sunday, Dec. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi church at 701 Mount Rose Highway in Incline. The festival is a service of song, scripture and prayer that dates to the late 19th century. The musical celebration will be followed by holiday refreshments and fellowship in the church hall. There is no charge for the event.

It is time for the annual Brunch with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 13, at The Chateau. Tickets are now on sale for this collaborative event from Tahoe Family Solutions, the Potlatch and IVGID Rec. Center. For information call Tahoe Family Solutions at 775-298-0004.

Birthdays to celebrate this week: David Hardie on Nov. 25, and Claudia Andersen and Danielle Zendner on Nov. 27. Happy Birthday.

The Deal or Steal this week is in Incline Village. Go out into the shops, pubs and restaurants and explore. Hidden treasures are everywhere and we will have a test on this information next week.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday to jeanmeick@aol.com.
