Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village
Special to the Bonanza
At last we can get back to enjoying summer at Tahoe. Now is the time to head out to the trails, beaches and golf courses. Plan a day during the week, or do the entire week and you can avoid a lot of the crowds. Do remember some of the fun events happening around the lake too — always something to do and we live here and can enjoy it all.
Shakespeare begins this weekend at Sand Harbor. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is the feature this summer. It’s not only a great comedy, but it is also the best location in Tahoe to be at when the sun goes down. Go to http://www.laketahoeshakespeare.com or stop at the office located in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center for information.
Golf season is another favorite activity at this time of the year. Congratulations to Roland Schumann; on July 5 at the Mountain Course he recorded a hole-in-one. Also, on July 9, Aaron Fassler recorded an ace on the sixth hole at the Championship Golf Course.
The Truckee Carnival will be from Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, in the Truckee Regional Park off Highway 267. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Tahoe’s Connection for Families. This is always a fun summer treat and helps a local nonprofit. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Safeway in Truckee or at Tahoe’s Connection for Families at 761 Northwood Blvd. in Incline. If you have questions visit http://www.tcfkids.org or call 775-832-8230.
The Women’s Club annual Fashion Show, Fashions from A to Z, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 3, in the Lakeside Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency. Fashions from Dillard’s will be featured. The auction for two round trip tickets from Los Angeles to La Paz, Mexico, plus two nights at the Costa Baja Resort Marina & Golf in La Paz (a deluxe 18-hold course designed by Gary Player) and a two night stay at the Guaycura Hotel & Spa has a value of $1,640. This is a spectacular trip. Watch for ticket information for the show next week.
Purchase tickets now to attend the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation 2013 Community Table on Friday, Sept. 6, at the Shakespeare Ranch in Glenbrook. Visit http://www.parsol.org for tickets. Only a limited number of tickets will be sold.
A huge Incline-style welcome to The Ashworths — Richard, Sue, Mary Ann and Taylor. They will be visiting with relatives in Incline all week and we hope they will find some great things to do at Tahoe.
Cindy Ferrell and Mark Kersey tied the knot in Bora Bora, Tahiti on June 30. Congratulations!
Forgot to wish Wayne Cameron a Happy Birthday on July 5. Good to see him walking in the RWTB parade on Saturday. Also Happy Birthday to Megan Weiss on July 14.
The best deal or steal this week is to go to the ARTour 2013. This is the 20th annual ARTour and an opportunity to visit with local artists in their studios. For information go to http://www.northtahoearts.com.
As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to firstname.lastname@example.org.
