Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

Jean Eick
Special to the Bonanza

Let the merry merry month of May begin. We sure did not see many of the April showers, and the power outage lasted longer than winter.

A reminder that there is no Bonanza community meeting this week folks, so hold your thoughts until next Friday.

Plan to attend Fiesta De Tahoe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at the Big Water Grille. Tahoe Family Solutions has planned a fun event that includes a gourmet four course dinner with wine and a champagne reception. Visit http://www.tahoefamily.org to purchase tickets.

Thank goodness the IV/CB Community Clean Up Day is from 8 a.m. – noon on Saturday, May 9. The trash on our streets and trails is out of control. We need lots and lots of volunteers to help clean up. Meet at Aspen Grove at 8 a.m. to register, form teams, receive collection bags and location assignments. Thank you to IVGID Waste Not and Incline Rotary for sponsoring this event. Contact wastenot@ivgid.org or call 775-832-1284 for information.

Remember as you do your spring cleaning, the Classy Garage Sale, hosted by the North Lake Tahoe Community Health Care Auxiliary, is scheduled for June 13. Donations can be made by calling Karen Kuehnis at 775-833-3244. Individual spaces can also be rented if you want to sell your stuff.

At Sand Harbor State Park on Monday, Aug. 10, Nando Parrado will share his amazing story of surviving the Uruguayan rugby team’s tragic plane crash in the Andes Mountains. For more information, ticket sales and sponsorship opportunities, visit http://www.tahoefamily.org or call Elyse Gut at 214-906-5454.

Friday, Sept. 11, is the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation annual Community Table at the Shakespeare Ranch. Sponsorships are still available for this incredible wine and food event. Contact jeane@parasol.org or call Jean Eick at 775-832-5645 to learn more.

Welcome to the PEO members attending the annual PEO Nevada State Convention at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe hosted by the PEO Chapter AC. More than 300 are expected to attend and will be entertained on Saturday evening by McAvoy Layne.

A very special birthday shout out from fans to Sean Farnan on May 1. North Lake Tahoe Bonanza/Sierra Sun Reporter Margaret Moran celebrates her birthday on May 4, and Heather Bacon celebrates hers on May 8. Happy Birthday!

The Deal or Steal this week is to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Tuesday, May 5, at the Hacienda de la Sierra in Incline Village. This has been a local tradition since 1986. Go enjoy this great event.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, before 5 p.m. on Tuesday to jeanmeick@aol.com.
