Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

Jean Eick
Special to the Bonanza

Welcome to all of the ladies participating in the Amgen events on Friday and Saturday. If Amgen would please schedule more events at Tahoe, like one a month from December to April, Tahoe could always have snow. It is better than a pray for snow party.

I am so excited to announce that The Grille at The Chateau is opening Friday, May 8. Just in time for mothers to enjoy Happy Hour for Mother’s Day weekend.

The IV/CB Community Clean Up Day is from 8 a.m. – noon on Saturday, May 9. We need the entire village to come out and help clean up. Meet at Aspen Grove at 8 a.m. to register, form teams, receive collection bags and location assignments. Thank you to IVGID Waste Not and Incline Rotary for sponsoring this event. Contact wastenot@ivgid.org or call 775-832-1284 for information.

The Women’s Club of North Tahoe will host its monthly luncheon on Monday, May 18, at the Kids and Horses Facility in Minden. The public is invited and reservations can be made no later than Thursday, May 14, with Linda Schooler by email at lschooler@aol.com or 775-832-0673.

Lake Tahoe School’s annual Crystal Ball is 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at The Chateau. The gala, themed “Reach for the Stars,” is the annual fundraiser and will feature silent and live auctions. More information regarding tickets, sponsorship opportunities and auction items can be found at http://www.ltscrystalball.org.

The Classy Garage Sale, hosted by the North Lake Tahoe Community Health Care Auxiliary, is scheduled for June 13. Donations can be made by calling Karen Kuehnis at 775-833-3244. Individual spaces can also be rented if you want to sell your stuff.

We do have bowling news this week! Bowl Incline Thursday night Winter league concluded with Henry’s Cleaning (Debbie Burgoyne, Millie Carter, Stevie Walton and Susan Herron) taking first place, and The 12’s (Dave Smevik, Casey Rude, Vanessa Rude, plus one rotating member of Patty and Zumikla) taking second place.

Also held May 2 was the 23rd Annual Bowl Incline Roll Off. The Men’s Champ is Shawn Noe, and the Women’s Champ (for the second year in a row) is Vanessa Rude. A huge shout-out to Mindy and Curt Wagner for putting this event together, and also to Leyton Collins for running the event. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

A very special birthday shout out to Kay Felte celebrating her 95th birthday on May 9. Also celebrating on May 9 is North Lake Tahoe Bonanza Advertising Consultant Stacy Collins. Happy Birthday!

The Deal or Steal this week is the Easel and Wine party at the IV Coffee Lab from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. Take Mom and paint a Masterpiece together or paint one for her. Call Easel and Wine to reserve your canvas at 775-831-2623.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, before 5 p.m. on Tuesday to jeanmeick@aol.com.
