Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village, Sept. 9, 2015

Flip flop days continue this week, as we are going to get another burst of summer to experience a few bonus beach days. All IVGID beach gates and the Burnt Cedar Pool will remain open and staffed through Sept. 27. Hooray!

Yes, Thursday Night Football is back, or as they call it at the Crystal Bay Club, Thirsty Night Football! Thursday, Sept. 10, is the kickoff for the NFL season at the CBC, as the Steelers take on the Patriots.

One more time folks. The bears are hungry, and yes, an open trash can is food for a mother trying to feed her cubs. Please, please help our bears and make sure all trash is locked up especially at food establishments. A fed bear is a dead bear.

Take a moment on Friday morning to remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The official time is 5:46 a.m. Pacific, but a moment of silence can be observed any time.

The annual Kids & Horses fundraiser is 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Crystal Bay Casino Patio. It features a barbecue, auctions, line dancing and a roping contest. Call Bea Epstein at 775-883-3963 for more information.

The American Association of University Women will hold the first meeting of the season at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center, 948 Incline Way. Includes social time followed by dinner to get reacquainted and opportunities to volunteer for upcoming programs. RSVP by Sept. 14 to or 916-849-5431.

The Incline Village Hospital Auxiliary’s annual Golf from the Heart event is Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Championship Course. To sign up or for more information contact Norma Buller at 775-830-2148.

Join Tahoe’s Connection for Families at the annual Tahoe Fall Fest at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Gar Woods in Carnelian Bay.
