Village Notes: What’s happening in our community
October 29, 2014
Please, please be sure to drive carefully tonight, Thursday, Oct. 30, on Incline Way, Highway 28 and Country Club Drive. Our annual community Halloween Extravaganza, the Trail of Treats and Terror, is happening at the DWR Center, IVGID Recreation Center, Lake Tahoe School and Sierra Nevada College. And, Friday night, watch for trick-or-treaters in the Country Club area neighborhoods.
Also remember Nevada Day is on Friday and many businesses and agencies, including the IVGID administration building and the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation, will be closed. Visit http://www.nevadaday.com for information on the parade Saturday in Carson City and other events. Sunday morning catch another hour of sleep as we fall back to normal time.
Also, in lieu of Nevada Day, there will be no North Lake Tahoe Bonanza Community Meeting this Friday — the meeting will resume at its normal time, 9-10 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 7, at the Bonanza building at 925 Tahoe Blvd.
Don't forget to get a raffle ticket from Girls on the Run-Sierras before the Gold Ski Pass Raffle drawing at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Purchase a ticket and you could win this amazing pass or one of the other great prizes. For information stop at the Girls on the Run office in the DWR Center or call 775-298-0280.
Tickets are now on sale for the annual Tahoe Chocolate & Wine Festival. This is a fundraiser for Tahoe SAFE Alliance on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Hyatt Grand Ballroom. For information visit http://www.tahoesafealliance.org or call 775-298-0010.
Project MANA needs help feeding those in need in our community for Thanksgiving. Last year almost 600 families received Thanksgiving meals from Project MANA. For $50, Project MANA can provide a wonderful holiday meal for a family. To help, as a volunteer, to drop off canned items or monetary donations visit wwwprojectmana.org or stop at their office located in the DWR Center.
