AUBURN, Calif. (AP) ” Two people are reported dead in a plane crash near the municipal airport in Auburn.

Placer County Sheriffs deputies say a man and a woman died aboard the single-engine, four-seat plane when the aircraft nose dived about half a mile from the airport.

Authorities say the victims were from the area around Auburn, about 35 miles northeast of Sacramento. No other information was immediately available about the victims or where the plane had taken off from or was heading.

The plane narrowly missed hitting a house as it nose dived.
