Basin advisory committee to meet Tuesday

The 20-member Lake Tahoe Basin Federal Advisory Committee will address issues from wildfire to land acquisition at its meeting Tuesday.

The meeting is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday at the U.S. Forest Service Office, Emerald Bay Room, 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA.

The committee will address issues related to federal activities at Lake Tahoe. Items on the agenda include a presentation on the preliminary Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act Round 9 hazardous fuels reduction and wildfire prevention projects, and an update on the SNPLMA Round 9 science themes, project nomination form and calendar, followed by a public comment period.

The committee consists of 20 members representing a broad array of constituencies. The Secretary of Agriculture chartered the first committee in July 1998 to advise the Federal Partnership on programs and projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin. The committees charter has been renewed every two years with the most recent renewal occurring in June 2006.

All Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public. Interested citizens are encouraged to attend. For more information go to
