SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. and#8212; With headliners like Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, Thievery Corporation and the Glitch Mob, SnowGlobe Music Festival and#8212; far away from the aimless wanderers on Casino Corridor and#8212; will undoubtedly be the place to be this New Year’s Eve.

and#8220;We couldn’t be more excited about how welcoming the town of South Lake Tahoe has been to this idea,and#8221; said Chip Herter, spokesman for the event.

SnowGlobe will be held on Lake Tahoe Community College’s soccer field Dec. 29-31. Joining the headliners, announced first exclusively through Lake Tahoe Action, will be more than 40 other acts. The music selection is meant to attract skiers and snowboarders.

and#8220;We wanted to create an environment that’s the perfect marriage between music and mountain sports,and#8221; Herter said.

The festival touts on its website that festivalgoers will be able to ski and snowboard during the day and rock out at night.

and#8220;Early Birdand#8221; tickets go on sale Nov. 4 for $99.95, followed by $124.95 and#8220;advancedand#8221; on Nov. 9 and $149.95 regularly priced tickets come winter.

SnowGlobe is a sister festival to the SnowBall event held last year in Avon, Colo. The city of South Lake Tahoe has been courting the idea of hosting a winter festival for some time, said spokeswoman Nancy Kerry, who went to see the festival in Colorado last year.

and#8220;This is part of the city’s new initiative to attract big events,and#8221; Kerry said.

SnowGlobe is branded as a winter-themed event and organizers are ensuring festivalgoers get a true winter experience. Though there will be some tented space, much of the festival will be outside, regardless of the weather.

Attendees are recommended to dress warm. A shuttle from the Stateline area will run back and forth between the LTCC site and Stateline throughout the festival.
