Bay Area boy dies in Truckee sledding accident

A 4-year-old boy was killed when the sled he was riding ran into traffic and was struck by a car in a Truckee neighborhood.

The boy was playing with his parents when the accident happened Saturday afternoon, police said Monday. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the child and his parents were visiting from the San Francisco Bay area.

The driver of the car, a 38-year-old man also from the Bay area, was not hurt. There was no indication that the driver was impaired, police said, adding that he was cooperative with investigators.

Names of those involved were not released.
