Benefit Day helped raise $18,000

Northstar-at-Tahoe’s Chili Cook-off and Raffle to benefit Dustin Demont Sunday raised $18,000 for the Dustin Demont Fund. The event included a chili cook-off, golf tournament, live auction, silent auction, raffle and live music. The top raffle prize was a trip for two to Snowbird and Utah.

Approximately 250 people gathered to help support Dustin, a Truckee native and 1998 Tahoe-Truckee High School graduate, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in November 1999 while away at college. The brain tumor has been determined to be benign; however, Dustin most undergo six weeks of radiation as well as participate in an indefinite amount of occupation and cognitive therapy.

The $18,000 raised from the benefit will be used to assist Dustin’s family with the cost of his medical care.
