TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County & North Lake Tahoe (BBBSNC) is excited to announce the hiring of Lindy Beatie as the agency’s new executive director.

Beatie, a 10-year resident of Rough and Ready, Calif., comes to the local mentoring agency with a wealth of nonprofit and private-sector management experience, having served as the executive director of the United Way of Nevada County and the development director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Sacramento, in addition to working as the marketing manager for Tenco Tractor, Inc.

In her new role for BBBSNC, Beatie will lead the agency that has been facilitating one-on-one mentoring relationships between caring adults and at-risk youth in Nevada County for more than 30 years.

“I am thrilled to be a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe,” Beatie said. “It’s such an important organization to the local community — especially considering that we’re the only local agency that serves local boys who need mentors — and I’m looking forward to working with the staff and the entire community to really grow the impact our programs have locally.”

Beatie will work primarily out of the agency’s Nevada City office, but will also travel to the agency’s Truckee-Tahoe office when needed.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Lindy Beatie taking on the executive director role with this agency,” said BBBSNC board president Kelly Newell. “We have utilized her experience in the past for a number of board and staff training sessions, so we’re very confident that she will be able to take this agency to new heights in the local community — allowing us to serve more kids here in Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe (BBBSNC) is a chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a national nonprofit agency dedicated to creating a volunteer base where every at-risk child and youth who needs and wants a mentor can be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister.

BBBSNC serves children in all of Nevada County including Truckee, as well as the North Lake Tahoe communities of Kings Beach and Tahoe City. For more information visit http://www.bigsofnc.org or call 530-265-2059.
