A blizzard warning has been issued for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area, which includes Truckee, from 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, to 4 a.m. on Friday, March 2, the National Weather Service Office in Reno said.

“Heavy snow with periods of blizzard conditions expected,” the warning states. “Strong winds and heavy snowfall rates will cause whiteout conditions with blowing snow. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 feet in the High Sierra above 7,000 feet, with 1 to 3 feet of snow around the 6,000 (foot) elevation, including the Lake Tahoe Basin.”
