Board spot open for Truckee rec and park district

Joe Burns has stepped down from his position as a director on the Truckee Donner Recreation and Parks District’s board, and the vacant spot is now open to interested candidates.

District board members direct staff on financial matters and projects such as a proposed multi-phase community center, program development and park maintenance.

The board needs candidates with fresh perspective, Burns said.

“[They need] somebody who doesn’t come in with much of an agenda so that they can be open to seeing the district with a new set of eyes, and ultimately they have to have the desire to expand recreation.”

Burns, a Truckee resident who served on the board for two and a half years, has accepted a job offer in San Diego.

To apply, send a letter of intent to Truckee Donner Recreation and Parks District’s office at 10046 Church St., Truckee, CA 96161 by June 1.
