Boarder flown from canyon

After taking a hefty-sized plunge in the Blackwood Canyon area, a back country snowboarder had to be airlifted to Washoe Medical Center on the afternoon of March 1.

According to Todd Conradson, emergency medical service supervisor for the North Tahoe Fire Protection District, the boarder suffered considerable injuries after his fall.

“He went off about an 80-foot jump,” Conradson said.

The 24-year-old man was transported via a California Highway Patrol helicopter to Washoe Medical Center.
