Boreal guns for holiday opening

by staff

Prompted by the recent dip in temperatures, Boreal kicked off the winter snowmaking season this week and began covering its slopes Sunday, Oct. 17.

Known as one of the first Sierra resorts to open each year, Boreal started its snow guns in hopes of opening at least one run by Halloween (Sunday, Oct. 31), a Boreal tradition.

A good cold snap can help snowmaking equipment lay a nice base of man-made snow in preparation for Mother Nature to follow up and finish the job.

If she’s not feeling wintry, the state of the art snowmaking system at Boreal has the capacity to blow enough snow to open the resort.
