The Boys & Girls Club will start its second session of Chop Shop beginning April 6, 2009 under the direction of new Club Chef, Jacob Bird. The classes will run from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for third to sixth grade members and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for members seventh grade and up. Once again local chefs will be donating an hour of time to share their recipes and passion for cooking. In the fall the club welcomed Chef Jay from the Big Water Grille, Mark Estees from Moodys Bistro and Chef Michael Plapp from Pacific Crest to name a few. A mix of new and returning guest chefs will host this Chop Shop.Before signing up, club members must complete a two-hour course in Kitchen Safety & Sanitation. These classes will run every Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. For more information please contact Club Chef Jacob Bird at 546-4324.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Incline Village Rotary The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe will get a new computer lab! The Club will receive 12 PCs and two laptops. In the computer lab members explore what computers do and how they work. Through three levels of animated, interactive lessons and hands-on, instructor-led group activities, members learn skills for Microsoft software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher and Digital Image Pro. Members will use the laptops as part of our LEGO Robotics Program. Each year The Boys & Girls Club sends two teams of kids to compete in the First LEGO League Competition in Sacramento.Thank you Incline Village Rotary for making these programs possible!

Calling all kindergartners, first and second graders! Micro Indoor Soccer will be starting Saturday, April 4, at The Boys & Girls Club. Kids will participate in skill-building games and drills before scrimmaging with their team. Registration is $15 per member and includes a uniform. Practice and games will run Saturdays, April 4 through May 4 from 10 a.m. to noon. Contact Ben Visnyei at 546-4324.
