Burning Man sneak peak

Ryan Salm/Sierra Sun"Espie", "Davis" and "San Francisco Slim" finish installing the head of the Man and step back to see how it looks from 100 feet off the ground. Dozens of artists make their way out to the Burning Man Playa before the event to create their various pieces of artwork.

Hammers, drills, cranes, planes, hands, blaring sun, dust, high winds and sand. What has for eons existed as a dried-out lake-bed is being transformed into an artistic mecca. Hundreds of volunteers and paid hands have come out from all over America and some have even come from abroad to transform what is known to “Burners” as “The Playa” into Nevada’s eighth largest city and one that is built from the ground up in just a a matter of weeks.
