The Tahoe Prosperity Center is uniting Tahoe’s communities to strengthen regional prosperity. What does prosperity mean? It is defined by Webster as ‘the condition of being successful or thriving, especially economic well-being.”

With 63% of Tahoe’s residents qualifying as low to moderately low-income, that means a majority of our community is not thriving economically. The Tahoe Prosperity Center is focusing on key projects to improve community and economic prosperity for Tahoe’s residents:

AlertTahoe: adding fire prevention cameras around the Lake Tahoe Basin to ensure our homes and businesses are protected from devastating wildfire.

Connected Tahoe: expanding high-speed internet and cell phone coverage around the lake.

Measuring for Prosperity: the State of the Tahoe report outlining community and economic indicators specific to the Tahoe region.

Tahoe Revitalization: ensuring Tahoe is a great place to live — not just to visit.

Workforce Tahoe: understanding current workforce needs and matching with skills training and education to increase opportunities for higher wage jobs for local residents.

Last year, we accomplished much:

Supported two infrastructure grants to bring critically important high-speed internet service into our region. Mapped all existing and potential new cell tower sites in the Tahoe Basin to expand cell coverage while minimizing environmental impacts.

Completed the Measuring for Prosperity report, the only report with consolidated data on economic and community indicators for the Tahoe Basin.

Funded new fire prevention cameras to protect Tahoe’s communities and economy from devastating wildfire.

Facilitated the consensus-based process to promote community revitalization, reduce blight in our towns and attract new capitol investment to the region.
