Founded by in American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate the small businesses that help support your neighborhood and is held every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Now in its sixth year, Small Business Saturday has been embraced as part of the holiday shopping tradition as each year shoppers, businesses and public officials come together to “Shop Small” and show their neighborhood pride.
Small business owners can learn more and download free marketing materials at shopsmall.com. Consumers can also visit the site to find small merchants to shop at on Small Business Saturday.
TAHOE CITY, Calif. — The Tahoe City Downtown Association is proud to be a participating partner in the sixth annual Small Business Saturday and Neighborhood Champion program on Saturday, Nov. 28, to support independent businesses in Tahoe City.
The TCDA invites you to understand the important contributions small businesses make to our community and kick off the holiday season in style at the Tahoe City Holiday Hop on Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Stroll through local Tahoe City stores and begin your holiday shopping early while enjoying tasty beverages, snacks, good cheer and festive surroundings. The event will feature lots of special activities happening throughout the day including:
All Day Selfie Photo Scavenger Hunt — town-wide for great prizes!
FIAT 2016 AWD Car Exhibit and treats at The Cobblestone Center.
Photos with Santa at The Boatworks Mall from 2-4 p.m.
Mobile pet adoption center with the Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe at Boatworks Mall from 1-4 p.m.
Shop Small giveaways, such as tote bags, buttons and balloons at participating businesses.
Visit all the shops in the Boatworks Mall, the Cobblestone Center and beyond for holiday specials on everything from fine art to home décor and souvenirs.
In the evenings, explore numerous Tahoe City restaurants such as Jake’s on the Lake, Wolfdale’s Cuisine Unique, The Blue Agave, Moe’s Original Bar B Que and more for dining and drink holiday specials.
The Tahoe City Holiday Hop/Small Business Saturday event is also a great opportunity to join in the Shop North Tahoe/Truckee Holiday Contest to support local businesses, reduce the carbon footprint of locals traveling outside of their community to shop and protect the region’s local character.
Don’t forget to pick-up your Shop Local contest card at participating businesses for a chance to win cash, ski tickets or a tropical vacation.
