Tahoe advertising agency wins Best Of Show

Incline Village advertising and marketing firm smith + jones recently won three prestigious ADDY awards at the Advertising Association of Northern Nevada’s (a2n2) annual competition.

The agency’s video entry (view), showcasing Camp Richardson Resort, earned a silver award. “The Right Fit” brought home the gold in the self-promotion category, along with Best of Show Print, the second Best of Show for smith + jones in five years.

Designed as the response to a request for proposal, “The Right Fit” included a custom-made smith + jones shoebox filled with a shoe-lace-bound booklet and DVD to answer the potential client’s questions.

It was a team effort to produce what Jim Mathis, judge and quintessential adman, called “unique and inventive.” Mathis summed up the judges’ decision by saying, “This package blew us all away.”

smith + jones has a 33-year history of success. The 11-person agency has created effective advertising for a wide variety of businesses from tourism to tech, recreation to retail, healthcare to homebuilding.

“Our goal is always results,” president Kelly Houston explained, “although recognition from our peers feels good. We’re very proud to display our Best of Show trophies and to be one of a handful of agencies to claim the a2n2 distinction multiple times.”

a2n2 serves the Reno-Tahoe area as a vital resource for education, networking, and recognition within the marketing and advertising industries. It is the local affiliate of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the not-for-profit industry association that conducts the ADDY Awards through its 200-member advertising clubs and 15 districts.

With more than 60,000 entries annually, the ADDY Awards are the world’s largest and, arguably, the industry’s toughest competition, acknowledging and rewarding creative excellence in the art of advertising. The local ADDY Awards are the first step in a three-tiered process.

Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie for recognition as the very best in their markets in all forms of advertising from media of all types.

Panels of nationally known experts judge the entries. Gold ADDY and Best of Show local winners, like smith + jones, are automatically entered in district competitions. District winners are then forwarded for national consideration with results to be announced at a June gala.
