TAHOE CITY, Calif. — The inaugural Tahoe City Grill Fest, held recently one sunny afternoon, left guests full of great food, suds and sounds.

More than 400 attendees went to the Tahoe City Marina and Boatworks Mall green for this new event. Big Blue Q, Dockside 700, Hacienda del Lago, Jake’s By The Lake and Men Wielding Fire grilled up fare, filling the air with enticing aromas while Mental Floss from Reno entertained. A celebrity judging panel took their discerning taste to award bragging rights in categories spanning ribs, chicken, tri-tip and the “Tahoe Open.”

Dockside 700 emerged as the “People’s Choice” after a hard-fought barbecue throwdown.

“We knew it was going to be a tough competition and we were proud to be one of the big winners,” said Dave “DR” Richardson, owner / partner at Dockside 700.

“It was really exciting to see our neighbors and visitors come out to enjoy this new event that our team worked so hard bringing to life,” said Steve Hoch, executive director of the Tahoe City Downtown Association. “With this first-year success, we look forward to bigger and better Grill Fests in the future.”

As the crowd filtered down, organizers were already huddling to start planning next year’s event. For additional information, volunteer opportunities, or to become a TCDA member visit VisitTahoeCity.com or call 530-583-3348.
