Tahoe Pitch Showcase to host area entrepreneurs

Local entrepreneurs will get the chance to pitch their ideas and compete for a cash prize at the third annual Tahoe Pitch Showcase hosted by Tahoe Silicon Mountain and the Sierra Business Council.

Similar to pitches made on the popular “Shark Tank” TV show, contestants will be given five minutes to present their product or idea and then receive feedback from an expert panel of judges as well as the audience. Both the judges and audience members will vote for the best pitch.

Over the summer contestants participated in the Tahoe Pitch Camp, a series of workshops hosted by the Sierra Business Council that helps entrepreneurs to “hone their skills, learn about successful pitch techniques and craft a winning pitch,” according to the program’s website. At the end of the camp six entrepreneurs were chosen to compete at the showcase.

The event will be held at the Community Arts Center in Truckee on Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. The event includes dinner with a $5 minimum donation.
