Tahoe tourism agency to give out $55,000 in grant funding

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — The North Lake Tahoe Resort Association recently announced that $55,000 in grant funding is available for events taking place in the North Lake Tahoe region of Eastern Placer County.

Most individual grants will fall within the $500 to $2,500 range, according to NLTRA.

“All grant money is slated for marketing and public relations efforts needed to promote events in the region,” officials said. “Preference will be given to events that encourage overnight stays.”

JT Thompson, NLTRA’s director of tourism, says funding special events will bring needed attention to the region.

“By offering this funding to a wide variety of events, we hope to showcase the diversity of North Lake Tahoe,” said Thompson. “Our experience has shown that additional money for marketing can make a great difference in attendance and profitability at special events.”

Groups interested must fill out the Special Event Grant Application by the deadline of Friday, Sept. 18, at 5 p.m.

After review, select applicants will be asked to give the Grant Funding Task Force a five-minute presentation on Wednesday, Sept. 30, according to NLTRA.

From there, recommendations are presented to the NLTRA Marketing Committee and then the Board of Directors for approval on Nov. 4.
