Toys for Tots gearing up with Tahoe Truckee kick-off parties, campaign

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign will usher in the Tahoe and Truckee community campaigns with kick-off parties at the following locations:

Zano’s Family Italian & Pizzaria Kick-Off Party and Truckee-Donner Chamber Mixer on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 5-8 p.m., with pizzas, pasta, desert, Santa and more. Take the entire family.

Sunnyside Kick-Off Party and North Tahoe Chamber Mixer on Friday, Dec. 6, 5-7 p.m., with appetizers, cocoa, cookie decorating, and a no host bar. Santa will be present for photos. Take the entire family.

“The Gang” Game Night and Toys for Tots Collection at Rosie’s Café on Friday, Dec. 6., 7 p.m., live music with the Space Heaters, music will start at 9 p.m. Adults only.

River Ranch Winter Welcome Party and NTHS Jazz Ensemble Holiday Concert on Monday, Dec. 9, 6-7:30 p.m., cookies, s’mores, hot cocoa, discount café and drink menu, Santa and more. Take the entire family.

Toy contributions can also be made at the Community Kick-off Parties, where guests are requested to bring a new, unwrapped toy for a child from new born to 17 years of age.

The Toys for Tots campaign will run through Dec. 12, collecting toys for and distributing to children in the North Tahoe area this holiday season.

The toys and monetary donations collected in Truckee from the kick-off parties and other events will be provided to the Truckee Community Christmas for their toy distribution campaign.

The Toys for Tots campaign is organized by U.S. Marine Toys for Tots Foundation local coordinator Elaine Durazo, realtor for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, and is co-sponsored by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.


Toys can be dropped off at any of the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offices in the area. The Coldwell Banker office located in the Cobblestone Center, 475 North Lake Blvd., Ste. 102 in Tahoe City, is the Toys for Tots headquarters and a drop-off station. Toys can be dropped off at any location with a U.S. Marine Toys for Tots banner.

Families who would like to receive toys can pick up application forms at the Tahoe City Library, Tahoe Lake Elementary School, North Tahoe Middle and High School, and the Boys & Girls Club in Kings Beach. The application deadline is Dec. 12. Toy distribution will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, 10 a.m.-noon at the North Tahoe Event Center, located at 8318 North Lake Blvd. in Kings Beach. Please do not take children to the distribution.
