UPDATE: For westbound I-80 traffic: Chains are required from the Donner Lake Interchange in Nevada County to three miles west of Kingvale in Placer County.
ORIGINAL POST: Chain are required on I-80 this morning from Nyack in Placer County to the Donner Lake Interchange in Nevada County.
Chains are required on all vehicles except 4-wheel-drive vehicles with snow tires on all four wheels.
Westbound trucks are being screened at Overland Trail Road in Truckee. Drivers must have the maximum chains in their possesion in order to proceed and permit loads are prohibited, according to Caltrans website.
Chains are also required on Highway 20 from 5 miles west of the junction of I-80 to the junction of I-80 in Nevada County.
