Candidate forums fill the calendar
A number of opportunities to meet local candidates on the Nov. 4 ballot are being organized by area groups. Below is a list of what is finalized at this point.
On Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 6-8 p.m., Truckee Town Council candidates will take the stage at Truckee Town Hall in a free event open to the public. There are five candidates vying for the two seats open. The term of office is four years.
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6-8 p.m., Placer County Board of Supervisors and the Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District Board candidates will discuss issues at the Truckee Town Hall. There are two candidates running for one open seat for Placer County Supervisor. The term is four years. The School District Board has one seat open in Area 2 and this is a four-year term. Two candidates are running for that seat. In TTUSD Area 4, two candidates are running for one seat that carries a two-year term.
And on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 6-8 p.m., the Trucker Donner Public Utility District Board will also answer questions at the Truckee Town Hall. There are three seats open, each with a four-year term of office. Eight candidates are vying for the three seats.
The events, sponsored by a number of area groups, will also be televised on Channel 24 and streamed onto http://www.ttctv.org. The candidates will not only answer live audience questions, but also answer questions emailed to the Sierra Sun in advance.

The deadline for e-mailed questions is the day before each forum: Sept. 29 for the Town Council forum, Oct. 6 for the Placer County and TTUSD forums, and Oct. 13 for the TDPUD forum.

Voters will also have a chance to meet candidates, who will be the guests at the Senior Center on the following dates: Tuesday, Sept. 30; Thursday, Oct. 2; Monday, Oct. 6; Friday, Oct. 10; and Monday, Oct. 13. Those interested in attending can meet the candidates from 1-2 p.m., but are also welcome for lunch and socializing starting at 11:30. For more information, call (530) 550-7600.
